Teen Charged In May Leesburg Shooting Investigation: Police
An 18-year-old man was arrested in Leesburg on Tuesday in connection with a pair of May shootings, authorities said.
LEESBURG, VA — An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a May shooting on Meadows Lane and Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg, authorities announced.
No injuries were reported after the May 29 shooting, but the gunfire damaged multiple vehicles, according to the Leesburg Police Department.
Authorities identified the suspect as Jairo Amaya-Sorto of Leesburg. He is charged with willful discharge of a firearm in a public place, possession of a firearm by an undocumented individual, two counts of destruction of property, and possession of a controlled substance.

Amaya-Sorto is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 29 in the 100 block of Meadows Lane NE, according to a police report. Another caller reported the same person firing a gun in a nearby parking lot in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE.

At the time, officers were unable to locate the shooter. Through their investigation, detectives identified Amaya-Sorto as the sole suspect, according to the police department.
Police officers arrested Amaya-Sorto on Tuesday in the 0-99 block of Plaza Street NE. The police department said they are still investigating the shooting.
