Van Hit Jogger In Leesburg, Apologized, Drove Away: Police
A Maryland man was charged with felony hit and run after police said he hit a jogger in Leesburg, apologized, and drove away.

LEESBURG, VA — A van hit a jogger in Leesburg on Thursday morning, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said. The driver apologized before he left the scene, according to authorities.
Authorities said the jogger received treatment at an area hospital. She has been released from the hospital.
Investigators identified the driver as 21-year-old Jaden Hughes from Baltimore, Maryland. He is charged with driving without a license, felony hit and run, and using a phone while driving.

Hughes was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
If convicted, Hughes could face up to 10 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Thursday in the 17700 block of Canby Road in Leesburg. The victim told deputies that she was jogging along the side of the road when a van's side mirror hit her.
"The driver reportedly stopped, said he was sorry, and left the scene," the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said in a report. "The vehicle was located nearby, and the driver was placed under arrest."
