Cruelty To Animals, Hit And Run Among Charges Against Lorton Man

A Lorton man is facing multiple charges, including a cruelty to animals charge, after he shook a dog and then rammed several vehicles.

Daniel John Sol, 30, of Lorton is accused of picking up and shaking a dog in the 9600 block of Eaton Woods Place on Tuesday. He then left the area and returned with a knife and threatened to stab the victim, according to police.

LORTON, VA — A Lorton man is facing multiple charges, including a cruelty to animals charge, for threatening to stab a person walking their dog on Tuesday and then ramming several cars as police tried to stop him, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Daniel John Sol, 30, is accused of picking up and shaking a dog in the 9600 block of Eaton Woods Place in Lorton around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. He then left the area and returned with a knife and threatened to stab the victim, police said Thursday.

During their investigation, police officers were flagged down by witnesses who said someone was ramming vehicles and driving recklessly. Officers responded, and the suspect immediately fled in a 2017 Black Toyota Yaris, according to police.

“After a 12.5-mile pursuit, the suspect crashed into a tree and was taken into custody,” police said.

During the pursuit, police reported that a Toyota was “doing donuts” in the middle of the intersection of Richmond Highway and Telegraph Road and “facing the wrong way in traffic,” hitting multiple vehicles in the process, FFXnow reported.

Sol was charged with cruelty to animals, attempted malicious wounding, three counts of assault on law enforcement/fire/medical services, four counts of felony hit-and-run, two counts of reckless driving, felony eluding, and driving under the influence, police said. He is being held on no bond.
