"Its A Wonderful Life", Jamestown and Clouds

1. On Dec. 20, 1606, the Virginia Company's three ships set sail to establish the first permanent British settlement at Jamestown, Virginia. 

2. Sounds like a good deal to me. On this day in 1803, the Louisiana Purchase is completed in a ceremony in New Orleans. U.S. President Thomas Jefferson made the deal for $11,250,000. The land included Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska; parts of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, New Mexico, Texas, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.

3. On Dec. 20, 1946, Jimmy Stewart's first post-war film is released in New York City. "It's A Wonderful Life" turns out to be a commercial failure at the box office. 

4. American Actor Jonah Hill turns 28 today. Other notable birthdays include American actress Irene Dunne (1898-1990) and American author Sandra Cisneros (b.1954)
