To The Editor: Millions of American men and women put themselves in harm's way on a daily basis to protect and serve our great nation – whether they are fighting overseas to defeat al-Qaeda or putting out fires across town. To say that these individuals don't care about their local communities in the same way that a former County Supervisor does is plain wrong. In fact, their care is more sincere, since it's done out of altruism – not political motivation or gain. Colonel (Ret) Chris Perkins has fought to make America a better place in battle, andwill make a far better congressman than Gerry Connolly for one simple reason: He will fight for the people, not to protect his legacy.
