Baseball keeps winning though

A recap of yesterday’s sports scores from Lorton area schools:

BASEBALL

South County is now 6-0. They thrashed Lee, 20-0 in a shortened game. They’ve outscored the opposition 74-19 this season and will be looking to move to 7-0 when they host Annandale on Tuesday.

Hayfiled also remained unbeated with a 5-2 win over Yorktown. Cory Spera got the win on the mound and Daniel Vega got the save. The Hawks scored all their runs in the top of the 3rd inning as they batted around. They play Washington and Lee at home tonight.

SOFTBALL

South County rang out 22 hits in a 15-4 win over Lee in another shortened game. Haylea Geer drove in five on a three-for-three performance. The Stallions are now 5-2 on the year and have won three straight. They play Jefferson and Hayfield in a doubleheader at Hayfield on Saturday.

SOCCER

Both local girls soccer teams were dealt tough losses yesterday. An injury-plagued South County squad lost to TC Williams 2-1, despite playing without four starters and two others seeing limited playing time.

The Hayfield girls battled a skilled Langley team before falling 3-2. Tarah Coley and Brenda Arriaza scored for the Hawks.

Both boys soccer teams got shut out, South County 1-0 by TC Williams and Hayfield 4-0 by Langley.

TENNIS

The Hayfield boys' tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Falls Church. Allen Oronce, Kwang Rae Kim, and Hunter Woodall won their singles matches.
