• Potential bill would exempt Lorton waste incinerator from Va. carbon reduction regulations (ffxnow.com) — A key Lorton waste-to-energy incinerator could be forced to shut down under Virginia’s Clean Economy Act unless a proposed bill exempts it from upcoming carbon rules. State Sen. Scott Surovell and Fairfax County officials argue the facility is vital, warning closure would send massive trash volumes by truck down I-95 and increase landfill emissions, directly affecting Lorton-area traffic and waste management.
