• Workhouse debuts reimagined version of ‘Into the Woods' (insidenova.com) — A reimagined production of “Into the Woods” is opening at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, giving local theatergoers 17 chances to see the show between Dec. 20 and Jan. 25. With a tabletop-game-inspired concept, live onstage musicians, and a special New Year’s Eve performance that includes a midnight countdown party, it’s a major winter arts event right in town. 
• State, federal legislators look to address speed enforcement on GW Parkway (ffxnow.com) — Speed enforcement changes on the George Washington Memorial Parkway could eventually affect drivers traveling between the Beltway and communities like Lorton and Mason Neck. Federal and state lawmakers are pushing legislation to allow speed cameras and give Fairfax County police more authority on the parkway’s southern stretch, responding to years of crashes and resident complaints about dangerous speeding. Local supervisors generally support stronger enforcement but differ on whether new state laws are needed.
