Police Learn Woodbridge Woman Died From Injuries In 3-Car Crash In Lorton

LORTON, VA — Fairfax County police recently learned that a 74-year-old woman died from injuries sustained in a three-car crash last November in the Lorton area, the police department said Thursday.

Alverda Boyce, 74, of Woodbridge was taken to a nearby hospital after the Nov. 2 crash. Boyce died on Nov. 29, and Fairfax County detectives were notified of her death last week, police said.

Officers responded to the three-car crash around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the intersection of Ox Road and Palmer Drive. Boyce was driving a 2020 Honda Civic south on Ox Road and then attempted to make a left turn onto Palmer Road.

Boyce had a flashing yellow light when she turned in front of a 2017 Lexus ES 350 travelling north on Ox Road, police said. The Lexus driver had a green light at the intersection. While attempting to avoid the crash, the driver of the Lexus struck a 2021 GMC Sierra, police said.

Citing Virginia crash data, FFXnow reported that six crashes occurred at the intersection of Ox Road and Palmer Drive in 2022, resulting in injuries to six people.

On Thursday, the Fairfax County Police Department said its updated data shows that 20 non-pedestrian crash fatalities were recorded in 2022, exceeding the 18 deaths reported in 2021.
