Suspect At-Large After Eluding Police in Lorton Monday Morning

Two suspects were pulled over, both fled and one got away.

One man is in custody and another at-large after running from police at a traffic stop early Monday morning in Lorton.

At around 1:10 a.m., Fairfax County Police pulled a car over in the area of Silverbrook and Lorton Roads and the driver and passenger parked, got out of the car and fled from police on foot. The driver was captured a short time later by a K-9 officer near Cardinal Forest Lane, but the other suspect eluded capture.

Fairfax County Police did not release any information on the suspect arrested and said that no description was available on the second suspect.

The incident caused police to fan the area and shut down the Gunston Corner Condominiums, which are at Silverbrook and Lorton Roads.

Tse La Vanover watched a police helicopter circle the area from her third floor condo. Police blocked off the road and entrance to the neighborhood at Royal Robin Road. Vanover went out on her balcony and was spotted by police, who told her to get back inside.

Vanover called her best friend who lives on the first floor across from her also in Catbird Circle.

“I was concerned,” said Vanover, “as my friend is on the first floor. So, I warned her not to go outside to walk her dog and to verify the doors and windows were locked.”

After a while Vanover went outside to the parking lot as she thought things might have died down. A police officer ran toward her and told her to that they were looking for someone and to get back in the house as he didn’t want her to get bitten by a police dog or to throw them off the scent.

“I wanted to know what was going on so I could feel comfortable going to sleep, but they didn’t tell me so I felt uneasy,” said Vanover.
