The second First Friday event of the year went off without a hitch -- or a raindrop -- in the courtyard at Lorton Station Town Center.
Visitors and passers-by were lured, gladly, onto the makeshift dance floor in front of the gazebo by Tom Koerner and Debra Sternberg of Gottaswing Dance School in Washington, DC. Within minutes, some basic lessons from Koerner and Sternberg turned folks who'd never swing danced before into regular rug-cutters.
For the kids, there was a balloon artist and for the good cause was accepting food donations that can be put in their new food pantry, which will have its grand opening next Wednesday.
