Staff with the Brown Foundation of Northern Virginia announced the group began a partnership with the Adopt-A-Family holiday programs in Prince William County on Oct. 1.

The programs serve residents of Spotsylvania, Stafford and Fauquier counties and will provide needed goods for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Dr. Lewis R. Brown, the CEO and founder of this multi-million dollar foundation, said he expects to be able to provide financially destitute families and elderly people living on a below middle class income with a brighter, more happier holiday season.  Brown added that the Brown Foundation is seeking to provide Christmas trees and dinners for families who would otherwise not have a Merry Christmas.

Dr. Lewis feels that everyone in the US and even across the world should not be starving or be deprived the basic essentials of life. Despite the federal government shutdown that has crippled much of the economy, the funds of the Brown Foundation are flowing in steadily and in much greater financial quantities through the efforts of  grants  and financial bonds and stocks on the international and national stock markets.

Dr. Lewis also said that anyone who knows of a family who needs assistance during the holidays should call the Brown Foundation Emergency Prayer and Crisis Prevention Hotline number at 703-594-2302 with info on the financially destitute family or elderly person.

Dr. Lewis said the Christmas season will be a special time for give aways, as destitute families with children 10 years old and younger will receive a full holiday dinner and a DVD collection of classic Christmas cartoons.

Children without a DVD player will receive one, he said.  Families with children between 10-16 years old will receive a free desktop computer fully loaded and a 6’ Christmas tree.

In the words of Dr. Lewis, “Everyone deserves a chance to be happy and have a Happy Holiday Season.”
