An investigation into the double shooting found a domestic altercation happened on Saturday. Singh was armed and held two of his relatives, a 50-year-old woman and 53-year-old women, against their will in a bedroom, police say. The suspect fired a gun near both relatives, but neither was hit. According to police, Singh struck one of the relatives and put his hands around the neck of the other before the two relatives fled the home. The domestic incident was not reported to police at the time.

At one point after the domestic incident, police say Singh shot the two victims in the basement. He then left the home and drove to New Jersey to locate his relatives. There, he encountered other relatives, leading to police being notified.

The victims and the other family in the home were known to each other, but police do not believe the victims were involved in the prior domestic dispute.

Detectives are continuing to investigate incidents involving Singh and what led to the double homicide.
