Home Explodes In Prince William County After Gas Leak, No Injuries Reported
A Haymarket area home exploded Tuesday evening after a report of a gas leak, Prince William County Fire and Rescue said.
HAYMARKET, VA — A home exploded in the Haymarket area of Prince William County Tuesday evening, causing no injuries. The explosion was related to a gas leak.
Prince William County Fire and Rescue had initially responded to a report of a gas leak around 4:17 p.m. in the 5900 block of Coby Hunt Court in Haymarket. Around 5:36 p.m., the fire department said the home had exploded. Emergency responders had evacuated the home before the explosion.
The fire department believes an underground contractor had struck a natural gas line, but it is not yet clear what caused the explosion.

Units remained on the scene to complete the response to the explosion. The gas company was at the site to shut down the leak. The fire department does not believe there is any further danger to the community.
Two families, with a total of four adults and two children, lived in the home and are being helped by Red Cross.

Homes in the immediate vicinity are being reoccupied as their electric service is restored. Eight homes will have natural gas service interrupted for two days. Several vehicles were damaged by debris from the explosion.
