Loose Dog Killed After Attack In Manassas Area: Police

A dog owner fatally shot a dog that was attacking his own dog in the Manassas area, according to Prince William County Police.

MANASSAS, VA — A dog got loose and attacked another dog, leading by a fatal shooting by the dog's owner in the Manassas area over the weekend, according to Prince William County Police.

Around 10:42 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 10700 block of Balls Ford Road in Manassas for a vicious dogs report. Police say a 56-year-old man and relatives were walking their dogs when a pit bull-type dog got loose from a nearby home and attached the man's dog. The man fatally shot the attacking dog.

Animal control responded to the scene to take the dead dog.

After consultation with the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, police did not pursue charges.

Armed Robbery: On October 20 at 1:07AM, officers responded to the 7600 block of Somerset Crossing Dr. in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed the victim, a 27-year-old man, was approached from behind by unknown individuals. During the encounter, the victim was struck with a bat and assaulted before being cut on the hand with a knife. The suspects took the victim’s property and left the area. The victim went to a nearby business and contacted the police. The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A phone, clothing, and money were reported missing.

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling: On October 17 at 1:30PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 9100 block of Mackenzie Meadow Ct. in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a destruction of property. The investigation revealed at approximately 1:00AM, the homeowner woke to a loud noise. Later that morning, a bullet fragment was located on the floor, along with damage to a wall. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.
