MANASSAS, VA—A man was arrested early Sunday after repeatedly punching and kicking a young woman before strangling her at a home in the 10000 block of Moore Drive, according to Prince William County Police. Robert Michael Fleming, 49, of the aforementioned address, was charged with abduction, strangulation and assault.

Around 2:45 a.m., police responded to the residence for a reported domestic assault. The woman, 21, said she and Fleming—an acquaintance—were involved in an argument at a restaurant and continued arguing when they arrived at the home. The argument escalated and spilled outside to the back yard, where Fleming struck and kicked the woman multiple times.

She tried to get away from him several times to no avail. He grabbed her by the neck and the assault progressed into a nearby wooded area where he took her phone and threw it further into the woods. The woman finally was able to free herself and ran to a neighbor's home where police were contacted. She suffered minor injuries.
