Manassas Veteran's Day Parade, Free VIN Etching, Lioness Book Drive
What's happening this week in Manassas?

This is the first full week for Elements Diet and Fitness' November promotion. If current members refer one friend to the club, then six months of basic services will be added to the current member's membership for free. Refer two new members and get premium services added for free.
Prince William County will host a town hall meeting this week to hear residents' opinions on parks and recreation spaces in the county. The meeting begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ferlazzo Auditorium in the Ferlazzo Building on 15941 Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge.
Prince William County and Manassas City police departments along with the Virginia State Police HEAT program will host an VIN etching event from 10 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Sears at the Manassas Mall on Sudley Road. At the event, technicians will use lasers to etch the Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) into all its windows to deter theft.
Police had originally planned to conduct VIN etching in October, but bad weather forced the event to be postponed. For weather-related cancelation information, call 703-257-8000 or visit the Manassas City Police Department on Facebook.

The Manassas Lioness Lions Club is asking residents to participate in its book drop for school age children. Drop off books at any of the six designated locations in the area before Dec. 15. The books must be appropriate for children in Kindergarten and up to 12th grade. The book drop locations are: The Manassas City Police Deptartment on Fairview Avenue, the Manassas Park Police Department on Manassas Drive, Grace Methodist Church off Wellington Road, St Thomas Methodist Church on Sudley Road, Gainesville United Methodist Church off Linton Hall Road and Weisco Printing on Liberia Avenue.

Operation Christmas Child begins Tuesday at Chick-fil-A stores in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. Customers of certain Chick-fil-A stores can pick up a decorated shoe box on Tuesday and return it a week later on Nov. 12 filled with school supplies and hygiene supplies for needy children. In return for their donations, they will receive a free Chick-fil-A sandwich. All Manassas Chick-fil-A locations are participating in the event. Monday is the Manassas City Council's special quarterly Town Hall Meeting. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Haydon Elementary School on 9075 Park Ave. At the meeting residents will get a chance to address the council and hear updates from the Manassas city manager, the city's utilities director, the treasurer's office, the police and fire departments and other city staff. The Manassas City School Board will discuss Virginia School Board Association (VSBA) policy updates at its next meeting on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Central Office Board Conference Room.
The Manassas City School Board Educational Support Committee will meet Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Central Office Suite 400 conference room at 8700 Centreville Rd in Manassas.
