Late-Night Hit-and-Run Ends December of Dangerous Driving in Manassas (potomaclocal.com) — Several people were injured when a silver Hyundai ran a red light at Sudley and Stonewall roads in Manassas on December 30, and police are still searching for those who fled the scene. Earlier in December, a separate DUI-related crash through barricades at the crowded Santa Lights Manassas celebration left an officer hurt and raised fresh concerns about dangerous driving in Old Town.
   

2. He Told His Ex He Was Taking Her Somewhere Where 'No One Would Find Her' — Then Carried Out Horrific Attack (people.com) — A Manassas woman survived a brutal kidnapping that began outside her home when her ex-boyfriend forced her into his car and drove her to Washington, D.C., where he assaulted and strangled her. A passerby at a D.C. gas station intervened and called 911, and the man has now been sentenced to six years in prison on kidnapping and related charges.
   

3. New Year's Babies: Local Hospitals Welcome the First Newborns of 2026 (potomaclocal.com) — Manassas families can celebrate that UVA Health Prince William Medical Center welcomed the city’s first baby of 2026 at the Hylton Family Women’s and Children’s Center. The story also highlights New Year’s babies in Fredericksburg and Stafford, the hospital’s national maternity recognition, and the Manassas family’s gratitude for the staff’s care and surprise gift basket.
   

4. From mulch to goat feed: How to keep your Christmas tree out of the landfill (princewilliamtimes.com) — Prince William County residents can recycle their Christmas trees in Manassas at the county landfill on Dumfries Road or the compost facility on Hansen Farm Road, where they’ll be turned into mulch. You can also donate undecorated trees to a Nokesville animal sanctuary or repurpose them in your yard to shelter winter birds, keeping waste out of landfills while helping local wildlife and farms.
