Double Fatal Crash On I-66 Express Lanes Kills Sterling, Woodbridge Residents

A single-vehicle crash at a Interstate 66 Express Lanes exit led to two deaths Tuesday in Prince William County, according to police.

GAINESVILLE, VA — A single-vehicle crash led to a double fatality on Interstate 66 Express Lanes in Prince William County Tuesday, according to police.

Crash Investigation Unit investigators responded around 2:11 p.m. to the westbound I-66 Express Lanes ramp near University Boulevard in Gainesville. Prince William County Police say a 2023 Audi Q5 taking the exit toward University Boulevard failed to slow or turn. The vehicle continued straight through the University Boulevard, crossed all travel lanes and strukc the concrete barrier.

Both passengers in the vehicle went to the hospital and died of their injuries. The driver went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and the front passenger were wearing seat belts.

The front passenger was identified as Alfredo Rodolfo Sobrero, 90, of Sterling. The back passenger was identified as Liliana Nora Loschiavo Sierra, 67, of Woodbridge. The driver is a 75-year-old man from Sterling.
