Student Sprayed With Eye Irritant During PWC School Bus Brawl

MANASSAS, VA — A teen was charged Monday after a school bus brawl where the other teen was sprayed in the eyes.

Around 11:22 a.m., the school resource officer at Independence Non-Traditional School (14550 Aden Rd in Manassas) responded to a school bus fight between students. According to Prince William County Police, a 16-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl were in a verbal argument that escalated. The 15-year-old sprayed the other with an eye irritant before they separated. The student had minor injuries.

The 15-year-old from Manassas was charged with assault with a caustic substance. Juveniles are not publicly identified by police due to their age. A court date is pending.

Brandishing of Weapon: On October 28 at 12:53AM, officers responded to El Gicarito 2 located at 10611 Lomond Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a brandishing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 34- year-old man, was sitting inside his vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man brandished a machete-style knife. When the victim contacted the police, the suspect left the area in a grey Nissan Xterra. No injuries or property damage were reported. The suspect was described as a man between 40-50 years of age.

Death Investigation: On October 28 at 10:40AM, crash investigators responded to the parking lot of Cabela’s located at 5291 Wellington Branch Dr in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a crash involving a fatality. The investigation revealed the driver of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, identified as a 67-year-old man, was in the parking lot of the business and is believed to have suffered a medical emergency. At one point, the driver let off the brake and slowly proceeded across the parking lot before impacting a boat trailer. A short time later, an employee of business observed the unconscious driver behind the wheel of the vehicle and contacted emergency services. Responding officers provided immediate first aid to the driver who was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. No other occupants were in the vehicle. Due to indications the death resulted from a medical emergency and not injuries sustained from the collision, the incident will not be considered a fatal crash.
