The Weekend in Manassas: Jazz Orchestra, Recycles Day and Pole Fitness Open House

The third annual Oktoberfest is set for Saturday out west in Haymarket. The event is from at 10 to 5 p.m. and features free popcorn and cotton candy. Look for the german band and entertainment by locals.
Classy Kids Consignment is going on now at the Prince William Fairgrounds on Dumfries Road. From 10 to 6 a.m. Friday is the 25 percent public sale. A 50 percent off sale for volunteers is from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday. It's half off for the public from 9 to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Everything is $1 from 10 to 1 p.m. Sunday during the dollar dash.
Doll House Poll Fitness is having its open house event Saturday. It all begins at noon with a poll dancing teaser class, followed by a fly gym teaser class at 12:30 p.m. At 1 p.m. is the "doll" cardio teaser followed by the lyra aerial teaser at 1:30. All the classes are free. Doll House Poll Fitness is located at 10969 Lute Court in Manassas.
End Alzheimer’s. The 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer’s course includes a 1-mile and 3-mile route around Old Town Manassas. The event benefits the Alzheimer’s Association. Registration details. 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Harris Pavilion, 9201 Center Street.
Lush Latin Music. The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra returns to the Hylton Performing Arts Center this weekend for “Latin Nights,” promising "sizzling sounds of Latin jazz.” From $28. 8 p.m. Saturday. Merchant Hall, Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas.
Monsters (Local) University. George Mason University will be hosting a special Family Film and Fun Night this weekend, with free food, activities and a screening of “Monsters University” at the Prince William campus. Fun begins at 4:30 p.m. The movie screens at 6 p.m. Friday. Verizon Auditorium, University Blvd., Manassas.The farmer's market is from 7:30 to 1 p.m. in lot B behind the Harris Pavilion on Prince William and West Streets in Manassas.
Meet photographers Hannele Lahti and Amie Tannenbaum at their artists reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Center for the Arts Candy Factory in Old Town Manassas. The work of both artists is featured at the Center of the Arts until Oct. 25 in an exhibit called Ripple|Reflect.
Prince William County Recycles Day and Paper Shred is Saturday from 10 to 2 p.m. at the county landfill at 14811 Dumfries Rd. American Disposal Services will have a recycle truck on site demonstrating its compaction features and levers for children. Children will also get to sit in the truck's driver seat and explore the truck. Landfill tours, face painting, displays and a recycled art contest will also be at the event.
