Three Displaced by Early Morning Manassas-Area Fire

No one was injured in the Wednesday morning blaze, Prince William County firefighters said.

An early morning fire that broke out in the Manassas-area has displaced a family of three, Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue reports show. 

Firefighters responded to a home on the 10600 block of Tattersall Drive in Manassas at 2 a.m. Wednesday. 

When units arrived on the scene the fire was moving from the rear of the home to its roof.  A second alarm was sounded when firefighters discovered an adjacent home was being damaged by the blaze and might also catch afire,  Kim Hylander, a spokeswoman for the department wrote in a press release.

 Firefighters soon confirmed the occupants were evacuated and moved to a defensive operation. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but the Red Cross did assist the family of three. The preliminary damage estimate is $330,000. 

Firefighters asked a building inspector and a building and grounds crew to secure the part of a home that was exposed to the fire.

The cause of fire is under investigation by the county fire marshal’s office.
