MANASSAS, VA — City government offices, courts and more will be closed Monday in observance of the Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day, which many localities recognize in place of the federal Columbus Day holiday, falls on Monday, Oct. 14. Some places also recognize Yorktown Victory Day, which marked the Revolutionary War victory for the United States.

Here are the openings and closings to know around Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County.

City of Manassas government: Closed on Monday, Oct. 14.

Prince William County government: Open Monday, Oct. 14.

Manassas City Public Schools: No change to school schedule.

Prince William County Public Schools: No school for students, staff professional development day

Manassas Park Public Schools: No school for students, staff professional development day

Community centers: The Manassas Park Community Center is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 14.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Virginia will be closed on Oct. 14.

Courts: Prince William County courts are closed on Oct. 14.

Libraries: Prince William County libraries are open on Oct. 14.

Manassas Museum: Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 14.

Metro: Metrorail hours are 5 a.m. to midnight on Oct. 14. Most Lines have normal service on Oct. 14. On the Red Line, free shuttle buses replace trains between Grosvenor and Shady Grove, as the Shady Grove, Rockville, Twinbrook, and North Bethesda stations closed. Trains run every eight minutes (daytime) and 10 minutes (evening) between Grosvenor and Glenmont.

OmniRide: OmniRide Express will not run on Oct. 14, OmniRide Metro Express and OmniRide Local & East-West Express will have regular service.

Post offices: Closed on Oct. 14.

Virginia Railway Express: VRE service will not run on Oct. 14.

Trash and recycling: Regular waste collection will happen in the City of Manassas. There is no change to the schedule at the Prince William County landfill. Check with your private hauler for any schedule changes.
