Area Post Offices Won't Extend Hours for Tax Deadline
The U.S. Postal Service encourages residents to mail taxes early, because Post Office locations won't be open late for the April 17 tax deadline.

Northern Virginia Post Office locations will not extend hours on Tuesday, the tax filing deadline.
U.S. Postal Service officials urge residents to get to the post office early to make sure their items are postmarked by the desired date.
While the Manassas Park Post Office on Old Centreville Road closes at 5 p.m., there are some Post Offices nearby that are open later:

Postal officials said they strongly recommend mailers check the last pickup time before dropping items into the blue mail collection boxes; items dropped in on April 17 after the last pickup time will receive an April 18 postmark.
Customers can use the self serve shipping centers even when Post Office buildings aren't open, but should be aware that the receipt isn't the same as a postmark and isn't proof of a mailing date.
