Top 10 VA Lottery Winnings Total Millions: See List

Lucky Virginia Lottery winners pocketed millions this year through scratch-offs and other games, while the largest prize remains unclaimed.

In August 2025, an anonymous winner took home the largest prize in Virginia Lottery history.

The Virginia Lottery told Patch that the record-setting jackpot of $348 million was won on a single ticket from the June 27 Mega Millions drawing.

The ticket, which had been purchased at E&C Mid Atlantic, located at 14878 Northumberland Highway in Burgess, matched all six winning numbers: 18-21-29-42-50 and the Mega Ball number 2.

Four weeks after the drawing, the winner walked into Virginia Lottery headquarters in Richmond to present winning ticket and claim their prize. The lottery allows winners of jackpots of more than $1 million to claim the prize anonymously.

Although the winner could've had the entire $348 million jackpot paid out in annual of $155.6 million before taxes.

For selling the winning ticket, E & C Mid-Atlantic received $50,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.

Here are the top 10 most significant lottery prizes that have been claimed in 2025 in Virginia:

  • $7 million: A Virginia Beach man won $7 million by scratching a 500X the Money ticket in August. He opted to take a one-time cash payout of $4 million.
  • $7 million: As of Dec. 23, no one has claimed the $7 million top prize from the Nov. 9 Cash4Life drawing. The ticket was purchased at the Aberdeen Food Mart, 933 Aberdeen Road in Hampton.
  • $5 million: In March, an Ashburn woman won $5 million on a 100X the Money ticket she purchased at a 7-Eleven in Chantilly. She opted to take a one-time payout of $3,125,000 before taxes.
  • $5 million: A Palm Coast, Florida claimed his $5 million prize in March. He won the prize on a $326,000,000 Fortune ticket he'd purchased at the Food City store in Big Stone Gap. He chose the one-time payout of $3,125,000 before taxes.
  • $4.3 million: A Woodbridge man won a jackpot worth $4,303,499 by playing the online Merry Money Mania game in January.
  • $3 million: A Fredericksburg-area woman won a jackpot worth $3,046,100 in March by playing the Jackpot Spectacular online game.
  • $3 million: Two long-time neighbors from James City County bought a Mega Millions ticket in the March 7 drawing that ended up winning $3 million.
  • $3 million: In May, a Stafford man won the fourth and final $3 million top prize claimed in the 50X the Money game. He chose to take a one-time payout of $1,875,000 before taxes.
  • $3 million: A Leesburg man won the $3 million top prize on a 50X the Money scratch ticket he bought at a local Food Lion in September. He chose the one-time payout of $1.5 million before taxes.
  • $2.8 million: In May, a Fairfax man won a $2,827,472 jackpot by playing the Virginia Lottery's MONOPOLY Super Spin game online.

All funding from the Virginia Lottery's digital games, scratch-offs and other games benefit K-12 education in the Virginia, lottery officials said.

"In Fiscal Year 2025, the Virginia Lottery had sales of more than $5.7 billion," according to the Lottery website. "Of this total, the Lottery generated more than $901 million for K-12 public education; more than $4.5 billion went back to players in the form of prizes, nearly $128 million went to the retailers who sell Virginia Lottery tickets, and $228 million went to operational expenses."
