City Attorney to Serve as Interim City Manager for Manassas Park

This isn't city attorney Dean Crowhurst's first time serving as the interim manager for Manassas Park.

Long-time city attorney Dean Crowhurst has been appointed as Manassas Park's interim city manager effective immediately, the city announced on Wednesday. 

James "Jim" Zumwalt, who had served as the city manager for more than two years, will remain in the office to assist with the transition until June 30.

Manassas Park City Council decided to appoint Crowhurst as the city manager on Tuesday, during a special meeting of the body, Frank Jones, the city's mayor said in a press release issued on Wednesday.

Crowhurst has been the city attorney since 2002. In 2010, he worked as the interim city manager for the three months between the departure of former city manager Mercury Payton and the arrival of Zumwalt in January 2011.

The interim city manager is responsible for managing city services, projects and human resources matters.

Manassas Park began searching for a new city manager soon after Zumwalt told city council that he wished to join his wife in retirement.
