City’s Credit Rating Can Either Go Up, or Down from Here

Analysts from Moody’s Investor Service not only issued a new credit rating for Manassas Park, but also provided insight into what circumstances would raise or lower the score.

 Moody’s negative outlook for Manassas Park could be removed if the social economic profile of the city improves and if economic activity leads to growth in the tax base.

Manassas Park's strength is in its location, according to a Moody’s release. 

The fact it is in Northern Virginia, an area that has been described by experts as the state’s power house and its closeness to the District all work in the city’s favor.

 On the other hand, things could become worse for the municipality if Fiscal Year 2012 ends up being a worst year than projected or, if structural balanced operations aren’t maintained, according to Moody’s.
