Flash Flood Warning in Effect for Manassas Area

One to two inches of rainfall expect to fall within an hour.

A flash flood warning is in effect for Manassas Park, Manassas and other areas, according to National Weather Service offices in Sterling.

The rain is so heavy, Virginia Railway Express trains on the Manassas Line were sent back to Alexandria. Buses provided by the VRE are expected to meet commuters there and take them home.

The warning was issued this afternoon after Doppler radar showed a developing band of torrential rain extending from Whites Ferry to Manassas.
