Injured Manassas Park Officer Expected to Be Released From Hospital Late Monday
Authorities said the five-year-veteran of the force is expected to be released Monday from the hospital less than two days after being struck by a car.

A Manassas Park police officer who was reportedly ran over by a fleeing suspect Sunday is expected to leave the hospital Monday, Manassas Park Police public information officer Karen Barton said Monday afternoon.
The name of the officer still hasn’t been released,but authorities did say he is a five-year veteran of the force.
Police also said the officer works the night shift with his canine partner.

To her knowledge, the suspect who struck the officer with his car is still in Innova Fairfax Hospital where both were taken after Sunday’s incident, Barton said Monday afternoon.
Authorities said the suspect was shot by the officer during the incident, which happened shortly before 2 a.m.

Twenty-one-year-old Robert Washington III of Manassas is charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer in connection with the crime.
His parents told WJLA reporters that their son had been released from the hospital and transferred to a jail, but they had not been allowed to see him.
His parents also told reporters that their son has mental issues and would have never intentionally harmed an officer of the law.
