Last Chance: Friday Final Day for School Board Applications

Friday is the final day to apply to be a member of the Manassas Park School Board. There are two open seats and terms are three years long.

Friday is the final day to apply for a seat on the Manassas Park City School Board.

Two of the school board's five seats expire on June 30, according to city documents.

Those two seats are currently held by Trisha Rhodes and Ron Gill.

Rhodes said this week she is seeking to retain her position on the board.

As of Thursday morning, it wasn’t clear if Gill intend to retain his seat.

Rhodes is currently at the end of her first term on the school board. She began serving in 2009. Each term on the school board is three-years.

Rhodes moved to Manassas Park in 2000 and has two children attending Manassas Park City Schools.

She is married and works full-time in the corporate education field.

Anyone living in Manassas Park can apply to be on the school board.

Resumes are accepted until 4 p.m. on Friday and must be submitted to the city clerk’s office in Manassas Park City Hall located at 1 Park Center Ct., just off Manassas Drive.

 Resumes are reviewed and candidates are interviewed by the Manassas Park Governing Body, whose members are charged with selecting the school board.
