Man Scammed By Caller Claiming to Be His Nephew
Police said a Manassas Park man wired money to a telephone scammer claiming to be his nephew.

A Manassas Park man told police he's out $1,500 after he wired money to a caller claiming to be his nephew in trouble.
The victim told police he received a call on Monday from someone claiming to be his nephew.
The caller said he was in trouble with the authorities and needed to pay a fine, Manassas Park Police reports show.

The man wired $1,530, but later found out the caller wasn't his nephew, but a scammer. His nephew never called him asking for any money, police said.
Police haven't made any arrests in the case.
