Manassas Park 2013 Grads Earn More Than $1.4 Million in Scholarships

The Manassas Park High School Class of 2013 bid their high school days goodbye on Saturday.

One hundred and seventy-two Manassas Park High School graduates officially said goodbye to their secondary school years and bid the real world hello.

The small high school held its 2013 graduation commencement ceremony on Saturday morning at 9:59, a time in keeping with the long-standing Manassas Park tradition of starting every school event one minute before the hour. 

The class valedictorian is Ji Won Kim who will attend the University of Virginia  in the fall, Manassas Park High School faculty said.

The class salutatorian is Kelsey Dyer, who will attend Princeton University in the fall.

A total of 37 honor graduates received diplomas this year, Manassas Park High School Principal Eric Doyle said.

The class received a combined total of $1.4 million in scholarships to help pay for their undergraduate education.

Staff said the graduates will disperse from the small city and attend more than 20 different universities and colleges as well as the U.S. Marine Corps this summer and fall.
