UPDATED: Manassas Park Officer Struck By Car, Suspect Shot By Police
A 21-year-old Manassas man faces attempted capital murder of a police officer charges. EMS transported both to Fairfax Hospital for treatment.

A Manassas Park Police officer is seriously injured after a suspect's car struck him while investigating drug activity in Brandy Station early this morning.
It happened at 1:49 a.m. on the 8600 block of Cartwright Court when the officer arrived to investigate a suspicious vehicle and suspected drug activity, according to a press release issued this morning by the Manassas Park Police Department.
The 21-year-old suspect driving the suspicious vehicle tried to flee the scene and struck the officer in the process.

Police soon found the suspect outside of the car, not too far from where the incident happened.
At some point, officers on the scene shot the suspect once, police said.

Details around the shooting are still emerging and the events that led to the officer using his or her weapon aren't immediately clear.
The officer is now on administrative leave; a routine practice after police-involved shootings, a representiave of the department said Sunday.
Medics transported both the officer and the suspect to Fairfax Hospital for treatment.
Their medical statuses aren't known. Police said the name of the officer will be released at some point.
Police arrested Robert Daniel Washington III, 21, of Arrington Farm Court in Manassas. He is charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer and malicious wounding in connection with the incident.
