Take to the Streets or Take a Sip at the Bar? Poll Ends in Tie Between Pub and Parade

Patch editors Jamie Rogers and Erin Gibson break Reader's Choice tie between the Manassas St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Old Towne Sports Pub.

This week’s contest actually ended in a tie between a popular pub and an popular annual event on the streets of Old Town Manassas.

 The and the St Patrick’s Day Parade in each received nine votes or, 30 percent of the total vote in this week's Reader Choice Poll.

 It is our practice to let the comments below the article break ties, but because we didn’t receive any pertaining to either entry, your local St. "Patches’" Day editors did the choosing.

 Having said that, the winner is … the St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

The one-hour parade begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Prescott Avenue and Quarry Roads on the east side of Old Town before navigating its way along Center Street and coming to a halt at the Harris Pavilion. Manassas City Mayor Harry J. (Hal) Parrish ll is the parade’s grand marshal.

 Ranking just behind the parade and Old Town Sports Pub is of Manassas Park with 13 percent of the vote.  

 Two taverns—the and — tied for 10 percent of the vote, while in Old Town grabbed 6 percent of the vote.
