$20K In Stolen Merchandise Recovered From Hotel Room, Vehicle: Police

Fairfax County Police recovered more than $20,000 in stolen merchandise from the hotel room and vehicle of three suspected retail thieves.

MCLEAN, VA — Detectives with the Tysons Urban Team arrested three New York residents suspected of being members of a retail theft crew. Investigators recovered more than $20,000 in stolen merchandise from the suspects' vehicle and hotel room, according to Fairfax County Police.

TUT detectives responded around 3:30 p.m., on Sept. 1 to the 8300 block of Leesburg Pike in Tysons for the report of a larceny. They located three suspects, who were in possession of more than $1,700 worth of stolen merchandise, according to police. After searching the suspects' vehicle and hotel room, investigators recovered more than $20,000 in stolen merchandise.

Detectives arrested the following suspects:

  • Henry Rozo-Olarte, 50, of New York was charged with conspiring to commit larceny, larceny with intent to sell, conspiring to commit organized retail theft, possession of burglarious tools, and grand larceny.
  • Maria Garcia-Casallas, 55, of New York was charged with conspiring to commit larceny, larceny with intent to sell, conspiring to commit organized retail theft, possession of burglarious tools, and grand larceny.
  • Angelica Velasquez Grajales, 42, of New York was charged with conspiring to commit larceny, larceny with intent to sell, conspiring to commit organized retail theft, possession of burglarious Tools, grand larceny and possession of a booster bag.

Rozo-Olarte, Garcia-Casallas and Grajales were taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where they were held without bond.

In August, FCPD Chief Kevin Davis said his department had dedicated detectives, teams and resources to combat out-of-state retail theft rings targeting Fairfax County retailers. In 2023, police made arrests in 70 percent of the county's retail theft crimes.
