August Drive of the Month: SHARE School Supply Program

SHARE, Inc. of McLean needs school supplies so that its volunteers can distribute them on Wednesdays and Saturdays in August to children who can’t otherwise afford to buy them.

As those of you with school-age children know, local schools pretty much dictate what supplies need to be purchased prior to the opening date in September. In some cases, special lists are distributed outlining the requiem supplies.

There are people here in McLean who can’t afford to buy the supplies and SHARE tries to help those families in this unfortunate situation by distributing these supplies from its facility at .

A list of required supplies for 2011 is provided below:

• ream printer paper
• wide or college ruled paper
• 70 page spiral notebooks, wide or college ruled
• marble composition books
• pencils 10-12 or 24 per package
• pens-dozen 10-12 or 24 package
• Crayola crayons -24
• Crayola markers – fat or thin classic colors
• Crayola markers-fat washable classic colors
• Pkg.dry erase markers black or mixed colors
• highlighters-pkg.
• glue sticks
• large glue stick .77oz
• jumbo glue sticks 1.41 oz
• pink pearl erasers
• Target Gift Cards

Share was established in 1969 by a coalition of religious and civic institutions to meet the emergency needs of the less fortunate in McLean, Great Falls, Pimmit Hills, and surrounding areas. Share is sustained by donations of food, clothing, furniture and funds, and is adminstered by volunteers. Share aids lower income families through our food pantry, family assistance and furniture program.
