Bulldozer Stolen From McLean Worksite Resold On Facebook: FCPD

Fairfax County police say that they linked a bulldozer stolen from a McLean construction site to a suspect in Michigan.

MCLEAN, VA — A 34-year-old Michigan man is awaiting extradition to Fairfax County after being arrested for stealing a bulldozer last month from a McLean construction site and reselling it on Facebook, according to authorities.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. on Aug. 11 to Chain Bridge Road and Dulles Toll Road in McLea for the report of someone stealing a bulldozer after saying that it was in need of maintenance, according to police.

"The bulldozer was towed away from the site only to be tracked by detectives to Laurel County, Kentucky, via GPS tracking two days later," according to the incident report. "Detectives coordinated with Laurel County Sheriff’s Office to locate and recover the bulldozer. The bulldozer was in possession of a victim who purchased it from Facebook Marketplace under false pretense from the suspect."

Investigators identified Dushon Raynard Sheperd of Michigan as a suspect in the case, according to the report. They obtained a warrant for larceny by false pretense and deputies with the Laurel County Sheriff's Office arrested Sheperd, who remains in custody awaiting extradition.
