Cherokee Tribe-Owned Federal Contractor Opens Tysons Office: Reports

TYSONS, VA — Cherokee Federal, which is the federal contracting division of Cherokee Nation Business, recently opened an office in the Greensboro Park development in Tysons, according to Indian Gaming Magazine.

Cherokee Federal manages 35 tribally-owned companies that serve more than 60 federal agencies. The company already has a regional office at 2511 S Clark St. Suite, 540 in Arlington, according to FFXNow.

More than 100 employees will work in Cherokee Federal's new 20,000-square-foot office at 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 900, in Tysons.

In 2017, Velocis and Altus Realty, a real estate investment firm and a real estate development company, respectively, purchased both 8180 and 8200 Greensboro Drive from Beacon Capital Partners LLC for an undisclosed amount.

CompStak, an online data platform that crowdsources property information from more than 35,000 members of commercial brokerage and appraisal firms, lists Cherokee Nation Property Management as one of the notable tenants of 8180 Greensboro Drive. It also reported that the property was last sold in 2022.

Fairfax County real estate records list the new owners as Velocis Altus Greensboro LP, a partnership made up of the previous owners, and ADC Greensboro Park LLC. This company is owned by Alarmcom Holdings Inc., an IT firm headquartered at 8281 Greensboro Drive.

“As we continue on a solid trajectory, this strategic expansion in D.C. provides a centralized and sophisticated environment that reflects the quality of service we are known for providing to our federal partners,” said Cherokee Federal President Steven Bilby, as reported by Indian Gaming. “This is another exciting step forward for our organization, and we are eager to continue growing our talented workforce, suite of robust service offerings and overall presence in our nation’s capital.”
