Clyde's of Tysons Corner to Close Its Doors: Report
Washington Business Journal reports the restaurant of 36 years will soon close its doors to make way for a development. Will it be back?
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A longtime institution in the area, Clyde's of Tysons Corners, will be shutting its doors in February after being in business for 36 years, according to a report by Washington Business Journal. The popular restaurant is decorated with palm trees and eclectic decor such as the Palm Terrace fountain, a hand-sculpted fountain produced in 1939 by George Stanley, the artist known for designing the Oscar statue and the famed stone figures on the Hollywood Bowl.
The restaurant, with four dining rooms and two kitchens, has earned three stars from 292 Yelp reviews over the years. Clyde's Restaurant Group is a private company that owns and operates 14 restaurants in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
The restaurant is located at 8332 Leesburg Pike and situated on a site where a development called Tysons Central is planned (see map below Google map). Clyde's Real Estate Group is listed as a partner in the development on the Fairfax County planning Web site.
