Drums Welcome Customers To Grand Re-Opening Of Global Retailer In Tysons
Global clothing retailer celebrates grand re-opening of its Tysons Corner Center store with a traditional Japanese Taiko drum performance.

TYSONS, VA — Hundreds of customers standing in line Friday morning enjoyed a traditional Japanese Taiko drum performance as they waited for the grand re-opening of UNIQLO's store at Tysons Corner Center.
The sound of drums had attracted additional customers from around the mall, who joined the long line that had started at 7 a.m. Once the doors opened at 10 a.m., about 200 people were greeted with giveaways and treats handed out by UNIQLO employees.
"We don't have a flagship store similar to Fifth Avenue and SoHo in New York City," said Sarah J., UNIQLO's marketing director. "But of course, D.C. customers have been such great customers for our business, so we wanted to make sure that we were expanding our product lineup for our customers. That's why we knocked this building down for a couple of months."

Expanding the store's floorspace allowed UNIQLO to offer a wider variety of clothing to its customers in the DMV.
"All of these items you can absolutely find on uniqlo.com and our flagship stores, but here we expanded on items such as PUFFTECH, Warm Bottoms, the fleece collection," Sarah J. said. "We're just making more colors and SKUs available."

During the renovation, UNIQLO operated out of a pop-up location on the first floor of the mall.
