Fairfax Co. Schools Make Weather Decision For Friday, Jan. 10

Fairfax County Public Schools have made a decision about Friday's schedule, as Northern Virginia continues digging out from a winter storm.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Public Schools will open Friday on a two-hour delay after four days of closures. The letter to families and employees was posted on the FCPS website Thursday afternoon.

Dr. Michelle Reid, superintendent of the Fairfax school system, thanked staff members who have helped prepare the schools after closures due to Monday's snowstorm. She also acknowledged their work in distributing meal kits to students during the closures.

"In addition, I appreciate the partnership of the Virginia Department of Transportation , who has been coordinating with our team to address specific secondary roads that have been a concern for many of our students and staff to get to school safely."
