FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- The new Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse coming to the ever-bustling Tysons area has set an opening date of Monday, Jan. 30, the company announced this week.
The new company-owned restaurant is opening at 1775 Tysons Blvd. (see map below) in a brand new 17-story office tower designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (see a photo gallery of the new building here) across the street from Tysons Galleria and near the Silver Line's Tysons Corner metro stop. The DC metro area's first Fogo de Chão is located at 1101 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in DC. That Fogo de Chão in DC has earned 4.5 stars from its Yelp reviews.
The restaurant's name means "fire of ground" and specializes in fire-roasting meats utilizing a centuries-old Southern Brazilian cooking technique called "churrasco." The eatery uses a service model known as espeto corrido (Portuguese for "continuous service") with food delivered by "gaucho chefs." Fogo offers its guests a tasting menu of a variety of meats including beef, lamb, pork and chicken, a gourmet "Market Table" with seasonal salads, soup and fresh vegetables, and seafood (smoked salmon, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Grilled Shrimp Skewers and Mango Chilean Sea Bass) as well as desserts, signature cocktails and an award-winning wine list. Children's pricing is available and varies depending on location.
