Temperatures around 33 to 36 degrees are expected between 2 and 9 a.m. on Thursday, resulting in frost formation for portions of central, northern, and northwest Virginia, according to the forecast.

“Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered,” according to NWS. Residents were advised to take steps to protect sensitive plants from the cold.
