The home has changed hands a number of times since 1919 between top political and business leaders. A spokeswoman at Case's venture capital firm told the Washington Business Journal Steve and Jean Case are traveling more and don't need a home that size with all of the kids gone off to college.
Merrywood is being sold by TTR Sotheby's International Realty and Jones Lang LaSalle. If sold at $49.5 million, the home would set a record of most expensive property ever sold in the area. According to Curbed, Case's $24.5 million purchase of the home is the record to date.
