Lafayette Federal Opens New Branch Location in VA

On Saturday, February 22, 2014, Lafayette Federal Credit Union officially launched its McLean Financial Service Center which is conveniently located at 6701 Lowell Avenue, McLean, VA 22101. The branch offers full-service banking with a 24/7 access ATM to provide increased service for existing members and to serve the McLean community. The McLean Branch is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony kicked off at 11:00 a.m. and special guests included Supervisor John Foust, Drainesville District; Carrie Hunt, National Association of Federal Credit Unions; and Norman Cohen, Chair of Lafayette’s Board of Directors. 

“We have been serving members worldwide since 1935 and are excited to be the first credit union in the heart of McLean, VA,” said B. John Farmakides, President/CEO at the Grand Opening Ceremony. “A major change in the way we conduct our business occurred in 2012 when we were endorsed by the American Consumer Council for our fair lending practices. Based on our partnership with the ACC, anyone who resides in VA, MD or DC is eligible to join Lafayette Federal, which ultimately led to our McLean Financial Service Center. This is just an initial investment into the community here in McLean and we look forward to a long standing relationship with the community.”

“Lafayette Federal truly believes in the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and is thrilled to continue its partnership with local schools and athletic teams in McLean,” said Norman Cohen, LFCU Chair of the Board. “We are also committed to helping local charities including Children’s Miracle Network and have raised over $500,000 with our efforts. This year our annual charity golf tournament will be held in Virginia and we hope to continue to make a significant donation to the Children’s Miracle Network.”
