Local Hotel Named 'Best of the Year' by Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association

The honor follows other top accolades from Conde Nast Traveler, U.S. News & World Report, Virginia Living Magazine, and more.

McLEAN, VA -- The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner was recently named "Best Hotel of the Year" by Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA). The distinction was presented at VRLTA’s inaugural Ordinary Awards Dinner, during which 15 individuals and organizations were recognized for their “outstanding work in the hospitality field and within their communities,” according to the association. Engineering Coordinator Kristin Winderweedle was also named ‘Hotel Employee of the Year.’

“What a remarkable honor it is to be recognized this way by such an esteemed group of our colleagues,” said Raj Khubchandani, general manager, The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. “From the day-to-day operations and guest services to our dining, spa and private events programs and everything else in between, there’s a lot of our passion and hard work that goes into where we are today. It wouldn’t be possible without our terrific team of ladies and gentlemen and we look forward to delivering the very best service for years to come.”

The nods come on the heels of several other top honors – on both a national and regional level – received by The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons this year. For Conde Nast Traveler’s annual Reader Choice Awards – in which nearly 300,000 travelers submitted ratings and comments to the magazine’s editors – The Ritz-Carlton placed on the coveted "50 Best Hotels in the World," Top 10 Hotels in the U.S., and ‘Top Two Hotels in the American South" lists.

In addition, Travel + Leisure magazine honored The Ritz-Carlton as the only hotel in Virginia on its ‘Top 10 Best Hotels In & Around Washington, D.C." list; while U.S. News & World Report distinguished the property as one of the ‘Best Hotels of Virginia and Washington, D.C.’ and Northern Virginia Magazine named it the "Best Wedding Ceremony and Reception Venue," noting the property’s multiple venue spaces offer “many options to suit the tastes of any discerning bride and groom.” Virginia Living magazine also recognized The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner as its "Best Hotel of the Northern Region."

This fall, the property celebrates its 25th anniversary with the unveiling of its Redefinition project – a massive, multi-million dollar renovation extending floor-to-ceiling upgrades to all guest rooms, suites and the Club Lounge renovation that is set to be completed in the coming weeks.
