TYSONS, VA — The mass vaccination site at Tysons Corner Center will reopen on Friday, Oct. 8, according to the Fairfax County Health Department.

The Community Vaccination Center is located at the former Lord & Taylor store, 7950 Tysons Corner Center. It will be open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged by visiting vaccinate.virginia.gov or calling 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682).

The site will administer first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine to those who are eligible at least six months after their last dose, and a third dose of Pfizer or Moderna for immunocompromised people. Anyone seeking a dose beyond the first dose should bring their vaccination card.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a booster shot for people 65 and older, people 50 to 64 years old with underlying conditions, and long-term care residents. People 18 to 49 with an underlying condition or at risk because of occupational setting may also get a dose. People with moderately to severely compromised immune systems are recommended to get a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 28 days after the last dose.

The Tysons vaccination site first opened in April to meet the demand for the COVID-19 vaccine and closed over the summer. It is being reopened as part of an effort to bring back large-scale vaccination locations. The site is operated by Ashbritt/IEM and organized by the Virginia Department of Health in partnership with the Fairfax County Health Department and Office of Emergency Management. A Woodbridge mass vaccination site is also being reopened on Oct. 7.
