MCC Kicks Off 50th Anniversary Celebration Jan. 4 In Alden Theatre

MCLEAN, VA —The Governing Board and staff of the McLean Community Center (MCC) are inviting patrons to a special kickoff celebration for the center’s 50th Anniversary at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, in the Alden Theatre. The event is free; however, patrons are asked to R.S.V.P. by sending an email to feedback@mcleancenter.org.

The event starts a yearlong celebration, which includes the installation of two public art projects, a tree planting, and a large, communitywide festival in October. MCC is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.

McLean Historian and former MCC Board member Carole Herrick will present a history talk highlighting the community efforts that brought about the creation of the center and its early history. A premiere showing of the center’s newly created 50th Anniversary Commemorative Video and a celebratory reception will follow. The event is hosted by the Friends of McLean Community Center with support from McLean Project for the Arts (MPA). The MPA art galleries will be open starting at 6 p.m. for guests to enjoy the “Vibrant Matter: Works from Wood” exhibition.
