McLean 5K Planned For 13th Year In October

The McLean 5K brings runners and walkers together to benefit the McLean Community Foundation.

MCLEAN, VA — The McLean 5K, a hometown race putting proceeds back into the McLean community, will return for a 13th year on Oct. 2. Registration is open to runners and walkers.

The race is held by the McLean Community Center with sponsors Century 21 New Millennium and the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds benefit the McLean Community Foundation, a nonprofit raising funds to support McLean, from the McLean Volunteer Fire Department to other McLean nonprofits. The race will begin at 8 a.m. at the McLean Square Shopping Center, 6631 Old Dominion Drive.

The top male and female finisher will receive a seven-day Wyndham vacation anywhere in the world. Another trip will be randomly awarded to another participant. Medals will also be awarded to winners in the following age groups: under 9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and up.

The registration price through Aug. 31 is $40. The price from Sept. 1 through Oct. 1 is $45, and race day registration is available for $50. Online registration will close at 8 p.m. on Sept. 30. Participants are guaranteed a commemorative technical race shirt when registering by Sept. 15.
