McLean Man Arrested In DC Linked To 2 Robberies: Police

A McLean man arrested for robbery in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday was linked to a similar crime in July 2024, according to police.

WASHINGTON, DC — A 28-year-old McLean man was arrested on Tuesday night for his role in a pair of robberies in Washington D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded around 11:47 p.m, for the report of a robbery at a business in the 1600 block of New York Avenue, Northeast, according to MPD.

Investigators determined that a man entered the business, announcedthat he had a gun and that he was committing a robbery, according to the incident report. After assaulting an employee, the man tried to flee the scene, but he was stopped by police.

MPD arrested Adony Gebretsadik of McLean, charging him with attempting to commit robbery and second-degree theft, according to police.

During their investigation, detectives linked Gebretsadik to a second robbery that occurred in the same area on July 23, 2024. In that incident, police say that Gebretsadik entered a business in the 2200 block of New York Avenue, Northeast, grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed the victim. He then fled the business with the cash register drawer, according to police.
